Miami-Dade County Retail & Entertainment District Assessment

The RED analysis, as it was known, was responsible for resuming Miami-Dade County’s efforts to attract major entertainment facilities to complement its tourist offerings and attractions.

PROJECT SUMMARY

Given the strength of its reach into Latin America as a bilingual population and strategic location, Miami-Dade County has long been a mecca for shopping among Latin American visitors. However, until Lambert produced the  Retail & Entertainment Market District Assessment in 2010, nobody had documented the fact that nearly 50 percent of retail sales in the 2.5 million person County were made by visitors.

Lambert hosted the Future of Retail Roundtable, an event to discuss the transition and growth of the retail industry over the next several decades. The roundtable identified that while retail was thriving at a level not experienced in nearly any other major U.S. visitor market, Miami had largely ceded family entertainment to Central Florida despite the fact that many Latin American families did not make the 250 mile trip up the Florida Turnpike.
